Plan for your future with Sylva Financial Planning

What We Do

Although we offer a range of services, everything we do is centred on ensuring financial security for you and your family.

Financial Planning

Every financial journey begins with a plan. It takes time, and a patient ear, to truly understand what you want to achieve in life. It is only when we are clear on where you want to go, that we can build a robust plan to get you there.

No journey ever runs completely smoothly from A to B. Therefore, we recognise that your plan will need to evolve over time. Our ongoing advice service offers steady and sensible counsel over the years to ensure that you remain on track.

Investment Management

In a world of almost infinite options, we cut through the noise to offer the right investment solution for you.

We will not make predictions (guesses) about the short-term direction of markets, or what the next fashionable investment will be. We will instead lean on time-tested methods of building wealth.

Tax Planning

The tax landscape is complex and constantly changing. We provide ongoing advice to ensure that you make appropriate use of your various tax allowances and avoid unnecessary liabilities.

Protection

Life can throw up challenges. We advise on the most appropriate method of insuring yourself against the unexpected.

Legacy Planning

You work hard during your life to build wealth. We help you to build a plan to support people and causes close to your heart while you are alive, while ensuring that your wealth passes to your beneficiaries as intended when you are gone.

Administrative Support

Over time our finances can become tangled. A key objective of our ongoing planning service is to simplify your affairs, giving you comfort that everything is take care of and freeing up your time to spend doing what you love.

When We Help

Each one of our clients has unique goals and concerns. However, we find that we can offer the most help to our clients at two stages of life.

In The Years Leading Up To Retirement

Whether you manage your own business, or are a busy professional, time can melt away and your own personal affairs can slip down the list of priorities. We will ensure that your finances are organised, and you have a solid plan, well in advance of your retirement date.

By taking financial concerns off your plate, you can focus on the bigger question - "what am I retiring to?"

In The Years Following Retirement

Once you move into retirement, losing the financial safety net of a steady income can be daunting. We have worked with lots of people who are in this position and understand how you feel.

Having a personalised financial plan in place, and a trusted adviser at hand, will help you to live out your best years with purpose.

When We Help

About Us

We believe that understanding comes with clarity.

Our promise to you is that we will always communicate with you in a straightforward and clear manner - our job is to ensure that you feel comfortable that we have your best interests at heart.

For the past twenty five years I have provided regulated financial advice to individual clients and their families. Many of these families have chosen to work with me for many years, and I take the responsibility of managing their affairs incredibly seriously.

As a Chartered Financial Planner I am required to meet the highest standards of technical knowledge and ethical practice. By choosing to deal with a Chartered Financial Planner you can be confident of receiving the highest quality service available within the profession.

In 2011 I took the decision to establish my own financial planning firm. As a business owner myself, I feel well placed to advise other business owners on how best to structure their affairs - particularly in the lead up to their retirement.

Originally with a legal background, I have worked for two large UK wealth managers during the past twelve years providing discretionary investment management services to hundreds of families around the UK.

During the course of my career, I developed a growing interest in financial planning and a desire to provide a wider service to clients than just investment management. In 2023 I therefore chose to qualify as a Financial Planner.

My relatively unique combination of qualifications leaves me well placed to provide fully holistic wealth management services to my clients. I marry technical knowledge with a natural ability to communicate and explain occasionally complex topics in simple ways. I particularly enjoy writing about personal finance and investing, and post weekly at themoneyden.substack.com.
